Iris Standard

IRIS, the International Railway Industry Standard, is the standard chosen and officially recognised by the European railway industry for assessing the quality management systems of the companies involved in the chain of production of rolling stock.

It was created on the initiative of the European Union of Railway Industries (UNIFE) and with the support of the main manufacturers of equipment and the companies involved: Bombardier Transportation, Siemens Transportation Systems, Alstom Transportation and Ansaldo Breda. IRIS has been awarded the ISO 9001 quality standard.

CETREN has agreed to work jointly with RINA to implement the new IRIS standard in the Spanish railway industry, making available their certification activity to the companies in the sector. CETREN is the certifying body of the Spanish railway system, while RINA is the body internationally recognised for the certification of management systems and approved by UNIFE as a certifying body of IRIS. Both companies have been notified by their respective Member States before the European Commission for the certification of interoperability.
