Notified Body

CETREN is recognised as the notified body by the Spanish government to the European Commission and other Member States to carry out the EC verification of subsystems and the assessment of conformity or suitability for the use of interoperability components under the following Directives:

• Directive 96/48/EC of the Council dated 23 July 1996, on the interoperability of the high-speed trans-European rail system.
• Directive 2001/16/EC of the European Parliament and Council dated 19 March 2001, on the interoperability of the trans-European conventional rail system.

CETREN is also the notified body for carrying out assessment procedures of conformity and verification, as provided for in Article 2 of the Commission decisions relating to the adoption of technical interoperability specifications, under Spanish regulations that are related to aspects not provided for in the TSIs and which are common to high-speed and conventional rail systems.
